Coaching Overview
In today's ever more complicated World we are often faced with situations that we don't think we can deal with.
There are many reasons why this might be and Coaching is a non judgemental way to help you to unlock those reasons, take personal responsibility and ultimately conquer the problem.
In life and in business, coaching may be able to help you take those first hard steps and give you the confidence to face your challenges and fears.

Coaching can be split into three main areas
Sport (click for more info)
Personal
Business
Here at THEXTRAMILE we offer coaching services in all three areas. Our head coach was previously a qualified sports coach!
Personal Coaching
The aim of Personal Coaching is to help individuals to address an area of their life they are struggling with or wish to alter/improve.
Personal Coaching is becoming increasingly popular as people seek ways to improve ever more hectic lives.
Some examples where Personal Coaching may be able to help are:
Overcoming a phobia
Increasing confidence
Learning to relax and remove stress
Exploring new ways to learn
Achieving a work/home life balance
Coaching is NOT counselling though and we will always talk this through with clients when we feel that their needs are better met by seeking counselling services.
Business Coaching
So what does a coach do?
A coach is a person who helps the individual staff member to identify their strengths and weaknesses, developing the former and reducing the latter. The coach has to be holistic in a sense, in that they need to see and help the coachee see how the whole of a role can be performed better rather than just eliminating technical errors. Coaching is about improving performance, ironing out problems and identifying ways to broaden the coachees work experience.
Coaching in it's simplest form should be carried out by line managers for their staff. Sadly, lack of experience, time and willingness often prevent this happening.
In a more complex form, an 'expert' may coach on technical aspects of a role, pointing out where inefficiencies and errors can be replaced with better, correct work. but it must be stressed again that technical coaching should be combined with a view of the whole coachee's role.
Fundamentally, a coach does not have to be a technical expert and often, not being an expert can be an advantage as there is no preconception about how a role should be carried out.
I'm a manager, if my staff receive coaching, what do I get out of this?
More competent staff
Improved staff motivation
Individuals and teams meet objectives
Greater job flexibility and rotation/cover
More complex tasks can be delegated
Team performance increased
Personal development
Great! So what does the coachee get out of it?
The benefits to the individual are considerable
Increased job interest and satisfaction
Improved career prospects
Increased confidence and self reliance
Continuing growth and development
Experience to cope with change
Greater recognition
Possibility of greater monetary reward

So how does it work?
Simple. Our coaching system comes in two forms:
Phone or Video Coaching : carried out using computer to computer calling on the skype system. This provides a zero network cost call, allowing you to focus solely on your coaching session rather than the cost of the call.
If Skype or other computer to computer systems are not available to you, please contact us to determine your best arrangement.
Sessions usually last anything from 15 minutes to several hours though on average our clients find that about an hour is ideal as it doesn't detract from other work commitments but is long enough to enable real constructive progress to be made.
Phone and video coaching sessions are bought by you in pre-paid hourly blocks at £20. You buy as many or as few as you wish. Payment is made via pay-pal as this is a secure and reliable system which also cuts down on paperwork.
We monitor how much time has been spent in each session and advise you when additional sessions need to be bought.
3 Easy Steps:
1. Contact us to discuss requirements and availablity.
2. Buy coaching blocks (use the pay pal buttons below or on the 'quick overview' page).
3. Attend the session
No Penalties for missed calls
We realise that managers and staff are under pressure and in the business world every second is precious and stuff just happens! That's why we don't have any penalties for cancellation of a video call or phone session, even at the last minute. Your prepaid block of time is simply held over for you when you are available.
The second option for coaching is:
On and Off Site Coaching Some people just like to be face to face.
Coaching at your site (on site) is available at a cost of £200 for a full day of 7 hours duration. Half day sessions are only available by special arrangement and are completely at our discretion.
Payment for on site coaching is made via invoice raised by us at the end of the month. Payment is to be made within 30 days except by special arrangement with us.
Each 5th day booked is free i.e. 5 days = £800 instead of £1000. 10 days = £1600 instead of £2000 etc. These do not have to be consecutive days.
Off site full day coaching is also available at the same price at a location provided by you or at the standard daily rate plus the cost of location if booked by us.
On site coaching at your location does incur a cancellation/date amendment fee of £100 if less than two weeks notice is given. Cancellations or amendments advised more than two weeks in advance do not incur a fee.
Off site coaching at a location booked by us incurs a cancellation/date amendment fee as above * plus any location costs that accrue.
* Location costs that accrue are not able to be waived once the booking has been confirmed regardless of the amount of notice given.
